Medical Ozone

What is Ozone Therapy?

Ozone Therapy is the use of medical grade ozone, a highly reactive form of pure oxygen, which stimulates the body, specifically the cells in the body, to renew and regenerate itself, leading to healing

Ozone Therapy has been and continues to be used in European clinics and hospitals for over fifty years. It was introduced into the United States in the early 80’s, and has been increasingly used in recent decades. It has been found useful in various diseases:

  • It activates the immune system in infectious diseases.
  • It improves the cellular utilization of oxygen that reduces ischemia in cardiovascular diseases, and in many of the infirmities of aging.
  • It causes the release of growth factors that stimulate damaged joints and degenerative discs to regenerate.
  • It can dramatically reduce or even eliminate many cases of chronic pain through its action on pain receptors.
  • Published papers have demonstrated its healing effects on certain diseases such as interstitial cystitis, chronic hepatitis, herpes infections, dental infections, diabetes, and macular degeneration.

Major Autohemotherapy (MAH)

Major Auto-Hemotherapy (MAH) involves mixing ozone with your own blood and infused through an IV.

First, blood is drawn from your vein and injected into an IV bag. Medical-grade ozone is then added to the bag where the blood picks up the ozone.  You will see a change in the color of your blood as it brightens from the ozone. This is due to increased oxygenation. The ozonated blood is then intravenously infused back into the same vein.

MAH is a medical procedure that must be performed by properly trained, medical professionals in accordance with strict protocols.

MAH Ozone with Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation

In conjunction with major autohemotherapy ozone treatment, we offer Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation therapy (UBI). This therapy involves exposing your blood to ultraviolet light, which can heighten the body’s immune system response, help kill infections, and eradicate bacteria and viruses in your bloodstream.

At AIM Center, UBI therapy treatment is used in conjunction with MAH (major autohemotherapy)to get the maximum amount of immune system and infection-fighting support.

Zotzmann Hyperbaric 10-Pass Ozone (Hyperbaric Major Autohemotherapy)

We are proud to be one of the few specialized practices in the U.S. to offer 10-Pass Hyperbaric Ozone therapy using the Zotzmann Ozone Generator.

For this therapy, an IV line is placed and the patient comfortably relaxes while a specific amount of blood is drawn out and mixed with ozone. That mixture is then infused back into the patient’s IV line and this same process can be repeated 10 times. The treatment takes about 90 minutes and the literature shows it is most effective if performed once or twice a week.

What are the indications for 10 Pass Ozone?

  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chemical Sensitivities
  • Chronic Allergies
  • Lyme Disease (and other tick-borne infections)
  • Osteoarthritis & Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Autoimmune Disease
  • Heart & Vascular Disease
  • Peripheral Artery Disease
  • Dementia & Cerebral Vascular Disease
  • Post Stroke
  • Diabetic Circulatory Disease

What is IV Ozone Therapy?

Ozone gas (O3) discovered in the mid-19th century is a colorless and odorless gas consisting of three atoms of oxygen. The oxygen used for clinical use is medical grade, administered in precise therapeutic doses and never through inhalation.

IV ozone therapy has been well-documented and used to treat chronic infections, wounds, Lyme Disease, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, ulcerative colitis, lupus, and many other conditions.

In the 1800’s, Nikola Tesla patented the first ozone gas generator in the United States, later starting the “Tesla Ozone Company”. During World War I, doctors applied ozone treatment to wounds topically for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and were later able to disinfect drinking water to be applied as a spray or compress in dental medicine.

What ways can medical ozone be administered?

There are various treatment options for administering ozone. Here are the most common:

  • Directly to the tissue. If you undergo ozone therapy for an extremity problem or a wound, the ozone gas may be applied directly to the tissue of the affected body part. The gas is administered in a protective covering.
  • Intravenously (IV). To treat internal disorders, such as viruses or infections, the ozone gas is usually dissolved into blood that was taken from you. Then, the blood with the dissolved gas is injected back into you through an IV. This can be done via a procedure known as Major Autohemotherapy (MAH) which we can combine with UV light.
  • Minor autohemotherapy is administered intramuscularly.
  • Intranasal
  • Rectally
  • Intravaginally

Are There Side Effects?

You may experience a detox or Herxheimer reaction. This is more common if the illness is from an infection from a bacterial, parasite, fungus, or virus. This is not actually from the ozone directly but rather the body’s way of dealing with what the ozone is accomplishing in the body.  You may have no side effects but you may feel tired or have muscle aches or feel cold or hot initially.

What to Expect Before & After Major Autohemotherapy

It is best to get plenty of sleep the night before, have a healthy breakfast that morning and to drink plenty of water.

Some people notice increased energy, while others feel tired after the procedure. It depends on how your body reacts to the therapy. You may need 1-3 sessions a week depending on certain factors such as your age and health condition, and the protocols are personalized by our trained healthcare professionals.
